Mudnight Madness by the rockets red glare!
This is the Third Annual Mudnight Madness Overnight around Block Island. The date keeps moving around because of the July 4th holiday and the shifting sands of time on the calendar, but whenever you go offshore at night, it's bound to create the kind of challenge that has sent men and women to the sea for centuries. So, now that we have the event in historical context, you will find all you need right here. The entry form and waiver can be downloaded as well as the NOR and the Sailing Instructions.

Draggin Z Balls Wins BIRW Around the Island Race |
What Goes Up... |
...Must Come Down! |
MUDHEADS SCORE AT BLOCK ISLAND… IT’S TIME TO GO AROUND IT! Congratulations to the Mudheads who raced at Block Island last week. One More Time with Peb and Woody Berghendahl and Bruce Lockwood won the Farr 30 class with Moise Solomon and Scott Baker’s Kaizen in second. Kyle Fast led a band of boys to men to take 2nd overall losing the tiebreaker in PHRF 4 in Alohomora a.k.a. Dragon Z Ballz. That included a bullet in the Around the Island Race on Monday. Bijan Rasadi’s Showdown also grabbed second in the J-29 fleet. Others who did the week and are better off for it included Jon Bewabe on 2nd Chance, past Commodore Bill Mortensen on Wunder Dog, Hugh Mclean on Shearwater, John Sutherland on She’s the Bos, Mike LaChance on Dark n’Stormy and Ron Levine on The Cat Came Back. Another dozen or so Mudhead POTRAFs (parasites of the rich and famous) made their appearances during a week that saw breezes top 30 on Monday and drop to near zero on Thursday. Most classes were able to get in 8 races. |

Thank you!
To the hundreds of sailors who have participated in Mudhead Benefit Regattas over the years, we say thanks. We’ve raised nearly a million bucks because of you. It’s time we gave something back.
This year we have waived the $100 entry fee to the Mudhead Benefit Cup for Hospice SECT. We want you guys to come out and race. Whether you raise a dollar or a thousand dollars, we want your happy, wet sanded bottoms on the water with us on July 18th in Fishers Island Sound.
There will be racing for all - from Watch Hill 15’s to the biggest PHRF Wonderpuppy we can find. Spinnaker, Cruising and One Design. Four racing circles will be the order of the day with the crack Mudhead Race Committee in control.
The MegaPartyTM at Mystic Shipyard will cap off the day, complete with Gosling’s Rum, bountiful cuisine from Mystic restaurants and the dance crazed sounds of the Rock n’ Soul Revue. Even the tone deaf will be wiggling!
And it’s all for Hospice SECT .
Making the Most of Life!
