6/1/11    Balance has Retired after Finishing from the Spring Race # 2 on 5/25/11 and will be scored RAF.   The protest hearing with Smilin' Bob has been cancelled.

The Donzo WNRS Protest Committee will hear the protest between Smilin' Bob and Balance after racing on Wednesday night, June 1st at the Connor's House in Noank.   Until then, Race Results for 5/25/11 are preliminary.

Mudhead Racers,

Did this winter surprise you? You must not be from around here. Things happen. Things change. But, the caravan moves on. Yes, those are Mudheads creeping out from their sodden caves to administer the polish, clear the tarps, change the batteries. It must be time for racing!

It starts Wednesday night, April 13^th with our annual Mudhead Tactics Seminar. We are pleased to present North U. sailing guru Bill Gladstone for a session on Starts, Tactics and Trim. Doors and bar open at 6:30 pm at Shennecossett Yacht Club, who have graciously lent us their facility again. Everyone is invited. Pay your $10 at the door.

Now, let’s talk race schedule. Best anyone can remember, this is our 16^th season running Wednesday nights and we have renamed the Series in honor of our late friend Don Wilkinson. The Donzo Wednesday Night Series. The NOR, Entry form and Waiver are attached for your action. Copies on the web as well.

The Spring Series runs May 18^th - July 6^th. The Summer Series runs July 13^th - August 31^st. 8 racers per series, no make-ups. This year, in the hopes of attracting a handful of new racers, (or some really old ones!) we are offering a Non-Spinnaker Class.

We urge all of our skippers to arm twist their crew to join the club. The impact of our mission is growing. Why wouldn't they want to be along for the ride? We suggest withholding the grog from those who refuse to commit!

Your entry fee for The Donzo Series automatically enters your boat in the 4^th Annual Mudhead Benefit Cup for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut. That kicks off with the Rum Tasting at Mystic Art Center on May 6th, then the Racer's Jam on Friday night, July 15^th and the regatta on Saturday, capped by the Mega Party Saturday night. This is the Mudheads' premier event and we hope you will support the effort we have made to help local charities.

Don't forget the 5^th Annual Mudnight Madness Overnight on Friday, July 1^st. Around Block we go with the challenging currents and the friendly fireworks. Overnights live!

So, start scraping the bottom and lining up crew. Racing is upon us and it's time to go fast, pass boats and be ready for changes. Any doubts?
