Racing is at the core of the Mudheads' genesis and continues today as the essence of our existence. And while we have grown older and found other worthwhile activities to involve the club, without racing there is no Mudheads. So, buckle up and prepare for another season on the water, searching for the next shift, finding the favorable current and out foxing that guy who always seems to know where to be on the race course. The opportunities are limitless.
Enter the 2011 season, we carry a heavy heart due to the loss of our friend and one of the founders of the Mudheads, Don Wilkinson. It is in his honor that the Mudhead Board has renamed the Wednesday Night Series. It is now called The Donzo Wednesday Night Series.
THE DONZO WNS MAY 18 - AUGUST 31, 2011
The Donzo Wednesday Night Series is scheduled for 16 races from mid-May to the end of August. 8 races for the Spring Series from May 18 - July 6 and 8 races for the Summer Series from July 13 - August 31. There will be no make ups.
If we get all the races in, we will count 12. Less races sailed, less counted for the overall Season Championship. See the Notice of Race here.
Entry forms will be emailed to all members on April 1st and will be available on the website here. The Sailing Instructions will be posted by May 1st. We will continue to communicate with all Skippers via email and will post updates on the website on the Notice Board through the season.
MUDNIGHT MADNESS OVERNIGHT
FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2011
|
We promise starry, starry nights, fireworks on the horizon and a tactical challenge that never gets old. And who doesn't enjoy the 0300 to dawn watch? It's the 5th Annual Mudnight Madness Overnight Around Block Island Race. First Warning is scheduled at 1800 on Friday, July 1st. 65 miles of wind, current and the fickle mystery of the Block Island cliffs, the 1BI rounding and the dash down the seemingly always windy east side. Or is it up the east side? It is navigator's choice for direction of the rounding of that porkchop shaped globule of glacial droppings.
Open to fully crewed and double handed monohulls. It's a Double Points ECSA Race and a great way to start your July 4th weekend. You'll be home in plenty of time to enjoy the family outings scheduled for the weekend. The NOR is posted and there’s more.

THE 4th ANNUAL MUDHEAD BENEFIT CUP
FOR HOSPICE SECT JULY 15-16, 2011
|
|
The Mudhead Event of the Summer. It's an ECSA Regatta! It's a Mega Party! It's a Great Cause! And it's all about you and your willingness to give. The Mudheads have been generous for a long time and this event focuses our attention on the great work performed by Hospice of SECT. Making the most out of life, we race, we sing, we drink, we raise awareness and we raise much needed funds for the cause.
The Race Announcement is here. The NOR is posted here. And the Sailing Instructions will be available by mid June. We have multiple race circles for virtually any kind of boat, spinnaker and cruising and one design. It's an important week on Fishers Island Sound and you should be a part of it. And did we mention there is no entry fee?!
