The 62nd Annual Dyer Dhow Derby at Mystic Seaport Museum is scheduled for October 15, 2011. This regatta is held in appreciation for the Yacht Clubs, organizations, and individuals who have donated and maintained a Dyer Dhow in support of the Joseph Conrad and Community Sailing Programs at Mystic Seaport.

The overall winner from last year was the Maxwell family. They will be the host club for the event this year. On their behalf, we cordially invite you to participate in the 2011 Dyer Dhow Derby. There are five races during the day; Juniors’ (able-l3), Men’s (14 and up), Women’s, Mixed, and the Quarter-Ton fun race (2-4 people per boat). Get started now to line up your crew members!

The event will be held on the Mystic River on October 15th. The skippers meeting will be held at 1200 at the Youth Training Building at Mystic Seaport. The Race Committee will be stationed on Cruising Club Dock at the North End of the grounds. Between races, crew changes will take place on floating docks off the main dock. There is ample room on the dock and along shore affording spectators and participants an excellent view of the racing. There will be an awards ceremony and cocktail reception commencing in the Youth Training Building at 1700.

Free Admission: Admission to the Museum will be complimentary to competitors and spectators for this event.

Crews: Minimum crew required to compete for the overall Adult Derby awards is one adult male and one adult female racer. Minimum crew required to compete for overall Junior Derby awards is one Junior Racer.

Awards: Trophies will be presented at a cocktail party following the racing.

Free Food: Hors d’oeuvres and drinks at the cocktail party are provided by Mystic Seaport.

Race Committee: Race committee will be provided by the Maxwell family, last year’s winner.
